Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, highlighted, this Monday, the historical relations of friendship and cooperation between Angola and Mozambique.

In a congratulatory message sent to his counterpart in Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the National Independence of that country, marked on Sunday, the 25th, the Angolan statesman referred that the results have helped to reinforce the pillars on which important and solid conquests achieved by the respective peoples.

João Lourenço was convinced of the enormous amount of possibilities for cooperation between the two countries.

In the missive sent, João Lourenço promised to continue working together with Mozambique towards the intensification of common actions that favor progress, economic growth and the well-being of the populations of the respective nations.

Angola and Mozambique, member countries of the African Union (AU), Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), maintain cooperation relations in the fields of Science and Technology, Geology and Mines, Social Communication, Energy, Territorial Administration, Construction and Public Works, Tourism and Higher Education .

The Republic of Mozambique, a country located in the southeast of the African continent, bathed by the Indian Ocean to the east, and bordered by Tanzania to the north, Malawi and Zambia to the northwest, Zimbabwe to the west and Eswatini and South Africa to the southwest, became independence from the former Portuguese colonial regime on June 25, 1975.
