Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, arrived this Wednesday in Huíla province, for a working visit of a few hours.

At Mukanka Airport, in the city of Lubango, the Head of State, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, was received by the local governor, Nuno Makapi.

Ministers, members of the Provincial Government of Huíla and traditional authorities also welcomed the President of the Republic.

In the city of Lubango, capital of Huíla, João Lourenço will reopen the Maternidade Irene Neto, after having benefited from a thorough rehabilitation and equipping work.

The ceremony will be attended by the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, other members of the Angolan Executive and local authorities.

Still in the province of Huíla, the Angolan President will witness the progress of construction work on the ring road in the city of Lubango.

Huíla is one of the 18 provinces of Angola, located in the southern region of the country, has about 1,500 thousand inhabitants, being the second most populous province in Angola after the capital Luanda.

Consisting of 14 municipalities, it has an area of ​​79,022 square kilometres. It is known for the magnificent view of Serra da Leba, the mountainous plateau that separates Huíla from the province of Namibe.
