Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, concluded his political agenda in Switzerland on Tuesday (20) afternoon, after participating, as African Union Chair, in the World Health Organization (WHO)’s 78th Assembly.
President João Lourenço – as guest of honour of the WHO director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus – was the first speaker at the high-level session of the event that began on Monday (19).
The meeting, whose highlight was the signing of the historic WHO agreement on pandemic prevention, will run until May 27 with debates on issues linked to the global health condition.
The Pandemic Agreement was adopted by WHO Member States as the first global pact to protect against pandemics, after three years of intense negotiations.
The pact aims to protect the world from a possible repeat of the suffering caused by Covid-19.
