Africa-Press – Angola. João Lourenço assessed on Tuesday (05) the progress of construction on the University Hospital of the Medicine Faculty of the Agostinho Neto University (UAN) in the municipality of Camama, Luanda, with a capacity of 144 beds and various medical and surgical specialties.
At the site, the Angolan Head of State, accompanied by his aides, toured some areas of the project under construction and received additional information on the project progress from those responsible, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
The contract for the construction of the infrastructure, budgeted at US$99 million, was awarded to the Swiss company Promed International AG (Mitrell). The hospital will be part of the Agostinho Neto University (UAN) Campus and will have clinical, academic, and research functions.
The hospital unit, under construction on an area of 40,000 square meters, is part of the development plan for Vila Rubra, located in the new university city of Camama, about 20 kilometers south of the center of Luanda.
The facility has a gross construction area of 73,170 square meters, with 18,100 square meters of built-up area, distributed across floors 0, 1, and 2.
With 10 clinical units, the hospital includes outpatient emergency services, a non-invasive diagnostic department, wards, imaging and diagnostic units, an intensive care unit, and a clinical lab.
It also includes an endoscopy room, pharmacy, morgue, laundry, hospital waste management area, biomedical workshops, a cafeteria, a training center, an administrative area, and separate elevators for the public, patients, and service staff.
The hospital will be equipped with cutting-edge techs, meeting international standards, with a focus on clinical education, scientific research, and the provision of high-quality healthcare.
