Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, defended this Wednesday, in Luanda, respect for human rights and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

On the sidelines of the special session on Human Rights, which is being celebrated worldwide Carolina Cerqueira stated that the situation in the Middle East requires respect for International Humanitarian Law, focusing on safeguarding the human lives of Israelis and Palestinians.

According to Carolina Cerqueira, it is up to the State of Israel to defend its security while respecting the security of Palestinians and neighboring states.

Carolina Cerqueira also stated that the statutory change of the UN Security Council could promote fundamental steps towards world peace.

The leader of the Angolan parliament expressed that this is the message that the 130 delegations from around the world have been conveying in the various public interventions and demonstrations.

The Assembly, whose work is being led by Carolina Cerqueira, as president of the Angolan Parliament, the host country, will adopt several resolutions, with emphasis on “trafficking in orphanages: the role of parliaments in reducing harm”.
