Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, travels this Sunday to Cape Verde, as part of the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

The visit program of the Angolan parliamentary delegation arriving at the press includes, among other actions, participation in the Solemn session of the National Assembly of Cape Verde, a visit to Tarrafal, courtesy meetings with the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the President of Parliament .

The delegation, made up of the Secretary of the Board of the National Assembly, Manuel Dembo, by the leader of the Unita parliamentary group, Liberty Chiyaka, by the MPLA deputy, Mário Pinto de Andrade, and by the President of the Humanist Party of Angola, Florbela Malaquias, also has in the signing of the cooperation protocol, an addendum within the framework of strengthening relations between the two institutions, is on the agenda.

In addition to an extended meeting between parliamentary delegations from both countries, a visit to Santa Catarina is also scheduled.

As part of parliamentary diplomacy, Carolina Cerqueira was in Morocco in April of this year, on a visit that culminated in the signing of an agreement between the parliaments of both countries.

The agreement signed by Carolina Cerqueira and the President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco, Rachid Talbi Alami, essentially aims at strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, focusing on the exchange of experience in the most varied fields.

It is also intended, with the agreement in question, the dynamization of bilateral cooperation and friendship and the promotion of the historical relations between the two peoples.

By the way, Carolina Cerqueira made mention of sealing the firm commitment to guarantee the reinforcement of interaction and exchange mechanisms, through the sharing of information and regular mutual consultations between the two institutions.

On the occasion, the Angolan deputy said that, through parliamentary diplomacy, the National Assembly (AN) has been developing initiatives in favor of peace in Africa, with particular emphasis on the Great Lakes Region, where the conflict situation in eastern Africa Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is worrying.

It should be recalled that the parliaments of both countries have cooperated through the Angola-Cape Verde Friendship Group.
