Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State, João Lourenço, accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, was, this Thursday morning, at the Army Headquarters to pay homage to General Abreu Muhengo Ukwachitembo “Kamorteiro”, who died earlier this week and was buried today at the Alto das Cruzes Cemetery, in Luanda.
Here is the message that the Head of State wrote in the book of condolences opened on the occasion of the death of general “kamorteiro” at the army headquarters | December 2, 2022
It was with a deep sense of regret that I learned of the premature death, due to illness, of General Abreu Muhengo Ukwachitembo ‘Kamorteiro’, who currently held the post of Deputy Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces.
His name is forever indelibly linked to the definitive end of the military conflict in Angola, for having been, on behalf of UNITA, one of the signatories of the Peace Accords for Angola, on April 4, 2002.
From that time on, holding positions of leadership in the Angolan Armed Forces, he carried out a meritorious action in favor of the peace and development of the country.
In this hour of pain, I wish to express my deep condolences to the bereaved family, which I extend to all of their friends and companions in struggle.
JOÃO MANUEL GONÇALVES LOURENÇO
PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC / COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ANGOLAN ARMED FORCES
