Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, arrived in Luanda on Wednesday morning for a four-day working visit, at the invitation of the head of Angolan diplomacy, Téte António.

In the State Protocol room at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the President of the United Nations General Assembly was received by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

According to the program to today, Abdulla Shahid will travel this Wednesday afternoon to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he will hold a working meeting with the head of Angolan diplomacy, Téte António, in the presence of the resident coordinator of the United Nations in Angola, Zahira Virani.

The agenda also includes meetings with senior Angolan executives and a trip to Cunene province, to see the operation of the Cafu Canal, the water transfer system of the Cuenene River, inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço.

On Thursday, the president of the United Nations General Assembly will travel to the Diplomatic Academy “Venâncio de Moura”, in Luanda, for an interactive meeting with students from this higher education institution, to talk about Peace and Security, Climate Change, Reform of the United Nations, as well as the insertion of Angolan cadres in the UN.

The President of the UN General Assembly is the guardian of the Rules of Procedure of the body of 193 Member States. He is elected by a simple majority three months before formally assuming his mandate.
