Africa-Press – Angola. The chairman of the Board of Directors of the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) Luanda Bengo, Manuel Pedro, was elected this Wednesday as a member of the Executive Board of the World Organization of Free Zones (WFZO).

After presenting the ZEE and its role in the process of diversifying the economy, before an audience of more than 400 delegates at the annual conference on Free Zones, which took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Manuel Pedro managed to gain the trust of the members of the WFZO.

The annual conference and exhibition took place under the motto “An ecosystem of trust that drives prosperity”, a topic that the chairman of the Board of Directors of the ZEE considers of extreme importance, since the free zones are not closed, as he understands that they must work , also, for the well-being of the communities and countries in which they are located.

According to a document, this event brings together political speakers, industry leaders, investors and specialists from around the world to discuss trends, challenges and opportunities in the global industry of free zones.

The role of attracting foreign investment, creating jobs, promoting trade and supporting economic development were some of the topics covered in the workshops and discussion panels.

Participants had the opportunity to network with their peers and participate in productive discussions that could help shape the future of the global free zone landscape.

Alongside Manuel Pedro, ten other directors were also appointed, including Alessandro Graziano from the Special Economic Zone of eastern Sicily, Italy, Banlca Borrel from the Consortium of the Free Zone of Barcelona, ​​Spain, Claudia Pellerano from the Free Zone of Americas, Dominican Republic, and Guillermo Misiano, from Zona Franca Santafesina, Argentina.

The list is completed by Heman Koomar Lollbeharre, from Airport Holding Limited, from Mauritius, Kimoomi Alinda from the Uganda Free Trade Zone, Jeffrey Tafel, from the National Association of Foreign Trade Zones (NAFTZ), from the United States of America, Lycu John from Liverpool City Region Freeport from England, Shni Hyun from Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority from South Korea, and Stephen Jonnings from Rendeavour from Kenya.
