Africa-Press – Angola. The Construction Materials Price Index (IPMC) showed a variation of 1.3% in August this year, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to the month of July, a value influenced by the origin, availability and demand in the domestic market.

The year-on-year variation rate of the IPMC (August 2023/August/2022) stood at 11.3%, according to the Quick Information Sheet (FIR) published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

In year-on-year variations, among the groups of construction materials, wood and Plywood were those that recorded the biggest price increases with 17.6% each, followed by ready-mixed concrete with 16.4%, plastic pipes and accessories with 15.4% %.

The list, whose data was collected in the formal and informal market, includes records of steel whose price had a variation of 14.4%, crushed stone and marble with 14.1%, sand with 13.6%, synthetic products with 13.2%, glass and glassware with 12.9%.

Blocks and beams, joists and slats also had a price variation of 10.0% each, cement and binders with 7.9%, other synthetic products with 7.7%, bricks with 6.6% and aluminum with 5.6%.

Overall, the groups of materials that contributed most to the variation in the IPMC in August, in addition to plywood and wood, included steel with 0.6 percentage points, followed by ready-mixed concrete, cements and binders with 0.2 percentage points each. , plastic pipes and accessories and blocks with 0.1 percentage point each.

Markets and collection establishments are formal and informal, where materials intended for the construction of houses, residential and non-residential buildings, roads and other infrastructure works are sold.

For INE, the price of construction materials is an important indicator for the construction market, as it is through its variation that it is possible to identify the degree of intensity of activities in the construction sector.
