Africa-Press – Angola. Father Sérgio Kassinda Chivava defended in the city of Cuito, Bié province, the continuous education of society on the culture of peace, to reinforce the preservation of political and social stability in the country.
The religious spoke these words during a lecture with the theme “The role of civil society in promoting a culture of peace and reducing violence and crimes”, an activity that marked the opening of the days commemorating 22 years of peace and national reconciliation in Angola , to be announced on the 4th.
In his dissertation, he said that preserving peace is a task for all Angolans, both those who govern and those who are governed.
This role, in his opinion, should not be relegated just to schools, but taken on by social organizations, instilling in the mentality of their members the essential values that contribute to the harmonious development of society.
He said that the culture of peace, based on abstinence from crime and non-violence, must be learned from families, who from an early age must teach their children about respect, the spirit of work, sacrifice, the sense of protecting the good common property and the non-vandalization of public property.
For her part, the vice-governor for the political, economic and social sectors, Alcida de Jesus Camatele Sandumbo, who opened the days commemorating the 4th of April, highlighted peace as a common good that provides socioeconomic, cultural and political.
The days take place under the motto “Together for the country’s inclusive growth” and end on the 27th.
During this period, at the level of the province of Bié, several activities will be carried out, including an ecumenical cult, literary, social and legal fairs, a workshop on the evils that plague society, cleaning campaigns and a march of repudiation against crime, delinquency and destruction of public assets.
Angola celebrates 22 years of peace and national reconciliation achieved on April 4, 2002, as a result of the agreement in Luena, capital of Moxico, between the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and the extinct Armed Forces for the Liberation of Angola (FALA), then military branch of the UNITA party, after numerous attempts, under the mediation of the international community.
