Producer Tadisi Baruch Highlights Awards as Recognition

Africa-Press – Angola. On Monday, in Luanda, producer Tadisi Baruch acknowledged that winning the “Best Director” and “Best Actress” awards for the film “Por Jade” at the International Film Festival held on 4, 5 and 6 April in the city of Levadia, Greece, represents the appreciation and recognition of the dedication of Angolan filmmakers. The director, who was received in an audience by the Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, explained that one of the points discussed with the minister was the message that the film presents about the cultural aspects of the country, in which the integrity of Angolan women is defended and the way in which the character Suzana defends family values.

Another point, said the director, was the need for filmmakers to seek closer partnerships with other artistic disciplines, in order to seek other strengths for the growth of the Seventh Art in the country. “It is gratifying when the work is recognized at national and international level, because this encourages artistic creation”, he highlighted. The producer also stressed that recognition means growth and a great responsibility to continue working on quality to enhance national cinema.

As for upcoming film projects, Tadisi Baruch explained that he is already filming the second chapter of the sequel to the film “Por Jade II”. “We continue with the same story, but this time with more action, comedy and drama. We are going to film in Angola and China, because we want to show the cultural clash between different countries”, he stressed.

The film “Por Jade” was one of the highlights of the festival and was among the 150 films from over 50 countries that represented Angola and reached the final stage with nominations in four categories, namely “Best Director”, with Tadisi Nsangu Baruch, “Best Cinematography” with Tekasala Bousoudia, “Best Production Design” with Walter Paulo and “Best Actress” with Marta Tomás.At the final gala, held on the 6th of this month, the Angolan film was awarded two trophies, winning in the categories of “Best Director” and “Best Actress”.

The Film Festival, which brought together directors, actors, producers and distributors from various parts of the world, provided three days of experience sharing, learning and reflection on the development of independent cinema.

The special highlight of the event was the screening of the film “Por Jade” on the 4th of this month, which allowed the audience to learn about aspects of Angolan culture. The film was filmed in the Tômbwa desert, a region that aroused great interest among international viewers, who were amazed by the landscapes and tourist diversity of Angola.

“Por Jade” has already won awards at other European festivals, such as the Tony Curtis International Film Festival in Hungary and the Portuguese Independent Film Festival in Portugal.
