PRS in Huambo wants to strengthen the inspection of public works

Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial secretary of the PRS in Huambo, António Solia Selende, recommended yesterday, in this city, the need for the local government to reinforce the inspection actions of public works in progress in the province.

The politician made this recommendation at the end of the verification visit he made to primary school no3 in the Calomanda neighbourhood, with 24 classrooms, on the outskirts of this city, built in 2015 and delivered, unfinished, to the community.

The official said he did not like what he saw, as the infrastructure, built with State resources, was delivered without windows, doors, walls without plaster, among other irregularities, and currently shows signs of degradation.

In his opinion, the situation was due to the lack of supervision, in order to ensure the conclusion of the undertaking and with the desired quality.

“For this reason, we draw the attention of the provincial government to the need for the contractor to be held responsible for resuming and completing the educational institution, so that it is delivered in acceptable conditions and serves school-age children in the locality”, he recommended.

According to the politician, in the condition of this infrastructure, there are others that have even been inaugurated by the government, but unfinished or with poor quality in their construction.

For this reason, he defended the reinforcement of inspection actions of public works in the province, in order to guarantee their execution within the foreseen deadlines and their quality.

António Solia Selende was, on the other hand, concerned about the high number of students in classrooms, as well as the existence of others studying outdoors, which, in his opinion, conditions the educational process to the quality of teaching.

On the occasion he said that, within the framework of the activities scheduled for this year, his party will continue to supervise the actions of the Government, help in the improvement of their execution, as well as denounce non-compliant contractors to the competent institutions so that they are held accountable for their actions.

Primary school No. 3 in the Calomanda neighborhood has enrolled, in the current academic year, 4,990 students from initiation to sixth grade, who study in 46 classrooms, many of which are open-air.
