Africa-Press – Angola. Psychologist Eduardo Sonjamba on Monday, in Huambo Province, stressed the importance of helping those most in need, especially during this festive season, which should be lived with solidarity, simplicity and responsibility.
Regarding the value of unity during the festive season such as “Christmas and New Year”, he stated that the excessive possession of material goods, consumption spirit and family conflicts, as opposed to helping those most in need, distort the true meaning of the Christmas celebration.
He said that parents have the mission of transmitting, from generation to generation, values such as love for one’s neighbor, peace, respect, forgiveness and fraternal coexistence, because the absence of these principles weakens family harmony and compromises the emotional development of children.
The psychologist observed that many young people related Christmas solely with receiving gifts, forgetting the value of sharing, reconciliation, and simple joy based on family togetherness and attention to others, especially the most vulnerable.
The official reminded them that Christmas represents the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, a symbol of life, hope, salvation, and reconciliation among humankind, thus it is a time for deep spiritual reflection and family unity and renewal of the human values that underpin social coexistence.
Eduardo Sonjanmba recalled that Jesus Christ was born in a context of humility, a fact that should serve as a reference for a conscious experience of Christmas, centered on the production and promotion of peace, light, fraternal love and respect for human life.
