Re-elected president “serenely” awaits the decision of the Constitutional Court

Africa-Press – Angola. The re-elected President of the Republic and of the MPLA, João Lourenço, said yesterday, on social media, that he is calmly awaiting the decision of the Constitutional Court.

On his official Twitter page, João Lourenço wrote that “the MPLA took to the streets yesterday, to celebrate the victory of the penta”, based on the results of the General Elections of 24 August.

“We will wait serenely for the decision of the Constitutional Court. Then we will organize the second party, the investiture ceremony and the following acts. Angolans, we are together”, he underlined in this Sunday’s post.

In another post made this Sunday, but on Facebook, João Lourenço invites everyone to enjoy the day of “bright, cheerful sun”, to “retemper energy and good mood for the work week that begins tomorrow”.

According to the President of the Republic who was re-elected in the last election on 24 August, there is much to be done for the homeland that everyone loves and that always comes first. “I wish you all good health. Lots of physical exercise. I’ve already had my morning session so that tomorrow I can be in shape and continue to do what inspires and encourages me the most: working for the well-being and happiness of Angolans, all without distinction !” he concluded.

The National Electoral Commission (CNE) declared João Lourenço as President of the Republic and Esperança da Costa as Vice-President of the Republic, after releasing the final results of the General Elections of 24 August, which confirmed the MPLA as the winning party, with 3,209,429 votes, corresponding to 51.17 percent of the valid votes.
