Africa-Press – Angola. The rehabilitation of the 53 kilometers of the Catete/Maria Teresa section, Estrada Nacional (EN)230, in the province of Luanda, began Monday, with the signing of the consignment act between the government and the contractor.

The project, carried out by the national construction company Carmon, will last 18 months and will cost the Angolan State 27,780,522,252 Kwanzas.

The section will have two lanes each 3.5 meters wide, two on the shoulder and will benefit from public lighting, sidewalks and the implementation of gantries.

To ensure rehabilitation, 320 direct jobs were created.

The EN 230 connects the provinces of Luanda, Cuanza Norte, Malanje and Lundas Norte and Sul.

On the occasion, the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos, who guided the event, said that it is extremely important as it facilitates the movement of people and goods with the north, center and east of the country.

“I am sure that the improvement of the road will bring relief and comfort to motorists”, said the official.

For his part, the governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, said that it is a moment of joy, 15 years after his first intervention, long awaited by the population and car enthusiasts.

He stated that all support from the provincial government is assured, wherever necessary, so that there are no constraints.

The EN230 is an intense route for the transport of goods, people and goods in the north of the country.
