Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights increased the security level at Identity Card issuing posts in the province of Cuanza-Norte.

Between 2021 and 2022, criminals vandalized and robbed the identity card issuing offices in the municipalities of Cazengo, Cambambe, Lucala, Samba-Cajú and Banga, where they stole cameras, among other equipment.

The wave of robberies also affected the Provincial Delegation of Justice and Human Rights, where several pieces of equipment were stolen, valued at around 20 million Kwanzas.

The fact was announced this Monday, in Ndalatando, by the provincial delegate of Cuanza-Norte for Justice and Human Rights, Delfina Graciosa Camulombo, on the sidelines of the inauguration of new heads of the institution’s local delegation.

He highlighted that since last year, the province has not recorded cases of robberies in identity card issuing establishments, as a result of the central body hiring private security companies to guarantee the protection of these buildings.

He clarified that the situation was recurring throughout the country, with the main target being photographic cameras, which were supposedly sold to video clip producers.

Around a dozen citizens were arrested, tried and convicted in Cuanza-Norte for robbery crimes, with some of them serving prison sentences.

The Civil and Criminal Identification Services operate with a computerized system, within the scope of the ongoing Modernization Program, with each post being able to issue between 60 and 70 identity cards per day.

Cuanza-Norte has identity card issuing offices in the province’s 10 municipalities.

Estêvão Militão Antonio and Mateus Gaspar Francisco were sworn in, in the positions of notary head of the Notarial Office and head conservator of the Records of the District of Cuanza-Norte, respectively.

Eduardo Pedro Moniz, António Francisco Bartolomeu, João Matias Francisco and Teresa Francisco Soares were also sworn in, as heads of provincial departments of Civil and Criminal Identification, Human Resources, Administration and Finance, as well as Human Rights, Administration of Justice and Dispute Resolution.
