Africa-Press – Angola. The Bishop of the Tocoista Church Dom Afonso Nunes called, this Sunday, for unity, reconciliation, harmony between Angolan families during the Christmas season.
The religious added that reconciliation is necessary so that there is a Christmas, not only of solidarity, but also peaceful and happy.
When speaking to the press at the end of the Thanksgiving service, for the 67 years of institutionalization of the Tocoista women’s organ, which marks yestrday, he underlined that Christmas should not be seen only as a time for eating and drinking, exchanging gifts and rather a moment for reflection, analysis of attitudes and improvements in actions that can be practiced in 2023.
For the Bishop, the celebration of the Tocoista women’s day marks an important stage because women are the foundation of society and symbolize the union between families, in all areas of life where their work is carried out.
According to the priest, the faithful will hold a “solidarity table” next Sunday, January 1, 2023, with more than 100,000 people, to celebrate the beginning of the year.
“With the realization of the “solidarity table” it is expected to raise to one million, the number of meals that the church has already served and all interested parties are asked to be part of the party”, he said.
He explained that two thousand people will be assigned to serve Christ’s guests and guaranteed that the purpose of the celebration is to restore friendship and a true atmosphere of solidarity.
The meal, said the leader, will be an act of love and will mark an unprecedented moment, since many families have nothing to eat.
Regarding the church’s challenges for the year 2023, due to the current national and international situation, he said it was ideal to remain firm and not panic in the face of adversity in order to have a timely response.
“The country will certainly take significant steps to consolidate the path of economic recovery, but we will have challenges to deal with human capacity”. He also added that the Church will continue to intervene to overcome the quarrels with love.
The Thanksgiving Service also served to commemorate the 90th birthday of the majestic mother Maria Rosa Tocoista, on December 27, 1932.
