Africa-Press – Angola. Leaders of different religious denominations in Moxico highlighted, this Wednesday, in Luena, Moxico province, the values of tolerance and harmony as one of the main gains in achieving Peace and National Reconciliation, for 22 years in the country.
For the bishop of the Diocese of Luena, Dom Martine Lazarte, peace represents a gift from God and people’s commitment to living in a climate of harmony, tolerance and social unity.
According to the prelate, peace has allowed the reintegration and economic and political growth of the country, and “people are aware that the world is pluralistic, with different ideologies, religions and political parties, hence the need to treat with respect for everyone who thinks differently”, he highlighted.
Martine Lazarte also suggested that one of the great instruments for preserving peace and developing the country is the need to give greater protagonism to citizens in actively participating in the country’s governance process, defending the institutionalization of local authorities.
“The implementation of local authorities must be a reality, because only then will the people have the voice and ability to manage their local problems”, he said.
For her part, the pastor of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA), Etna Mussole, said that society in general needs to experience true peace, striving for concord and the spirit of unity, “values that must be fostered, permanently , within families”, he emphasized.
For the president of the 7th Day Adventist church in the Eastern Region, Angelo Donaldo, in addition to the silencing of weapons, the softening of spirits, and freedom, peace represents reconciliation and national reconstruction.
On the occasion, he called on young people to permanently prioritize academic training and invest in entrepreneurship, with the aim of contributing to the country’s development process.
Angola celebrates on April 4th, 22 years since the achievement of Peace and National Reconciliation, under the motto “April 4th, together for the inclusive growth of the Country”.
