Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-governor of Malanje for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Franco Mufinda, appealed to the youth to assume themselves as the guarantor of the country’s continuity, through acts of citizenship and preservation of peace and national independence.
According to the leader, youth, as the nation’s driving force, must guarantee prosperity and suggest solutions to the country’s problems, as well as follow the ideals of those who fought for Angola to be independent from colonial rule.
The official made this appeal when speaking at the event commemorating the 48th anniversary of national independence that is being celebrated, highlighting that young people are still expected to take on the responsibility of making the country prosperous and developed through good deeds and fulfilling the legacy of national independence.
On the other hand, Franco Mufinda reiterated his appeal to Angolans to preserve peace and national independence, aiming to guarantee the well-being and integral development of Angola.
Meanwhile, the vice-governor highlighted the training of staff and the progress made in the education, health and other sectors, highlighting the emergence of more than three thousand health units as gains of national independence.
He explained that after 1975, the country achieved considerable growth in the field of education with the increase in polytechnic and university institutes, which have been helping with academic training and solving community problems, especially among young people.
In turn, the provincial secretary of UNITA, Mardanes Calunga considered that throughout the 48 years of national independence, the country has recorded successes in various aspects, although much remains to be achieved, having pointed out the holding of local elections as one of the paths insurance for the development of Angola.
The nationalist, Adelino Gunza, who gave a lecture on “The importance of independence”, said that it was necessary for Angolans to always reflect on the mechanisms to be followed to promote economic independence and social peace.
He highlighted that the achievement of democracy, as well as the holding of Angola’s first legislative and presidential elections in 1992 and others that followed, constitute factors of stability and positioned the country in a prominent and respected place at an international level.
The celebrations of national independence day in Malanje were marked by the raising of the flag of the Republic of Angola, followed by the laying of a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier, in the municipal cemetery of Malanje and the delivery of a lecture on the anniversary.
