Africa-Press – Angola. The deputy governor of Malanje for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Domingos Eduardo, defended Wednesday, the spirit of unity and reconciliation among Angolans, so that together they can materialize the aspirations of national heroes, to build a country stable and developed.
The official made this statement in the municipality of Kiwaba Nzoji, during the provincial act alluding to the Day of the Expansion of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, which is celebrated yesterday, having therefore highlighted the need for the current generation to preserve the legacy of those who fought for national independence.
“It is important for the new generation to preserve the legacy left by the nationalists and continue efforts towards the sustainable development of an Angola where everyone has the minimum conditions to live”, he added.
In this sense, he said that the Executive has implemented several projects, with emphasis on the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty (PIDLCP), Program for Social Monetary Transfers (Kwenda) and Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), to improve of the families’ economic and social conditions.
Despite this, he recognized that there is still much to be done, especially with regard to improving access roads and other social services, to give continuity to the project of independence and autonomy started by the ancestors.
Meanwhile, he reiterated the support of the Malanje government, through the Provincial Office of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland, to the 1,900 assisted, including former combatants, widows and orphans, with actions aimed at their social reintegration and financial autonomy.
Participating in the act, which took place under the motto “Ignite the flame of March 15 around peace, national reconciliation and democracy”, were members of the government, staff of defense and security bodies, traditional authorities and students.
March 15, 1961 marks the generalized uprising unleashed by nationalists in northern Angola, which targeted police stations, administrative posts and farms owned by Portuguese settlers.
