Africa-Press – Angola. The commander of the Central Military Region (RMC), lieutenant general Simão Carlitos Wala, highlighted, this Monday, the academic and technical-professional training of the personnel, as one of the main bets, to better master the technique and interpret the social phenomena.

The military official, who was addressing the troops on parade, moments after his presentation to the position of commander of the RMC, said that the training of military personnel in various areas will deserve special attention, with a focus on the challenges of globalization.

Likewise, he promised to do everything to guarantee the permanent maintenance of the self-armor technique and the control of the tight and rigorous system of weapons and ammunition magazines and armorers existing in the large units, establishments and bodies of the Central Military Region.

Lieutenant General Wala also proposed to continue working to guarantee the armed defense of the provinces of Benguela, Bié, Cuanza-Sul and Huambo, through maintaining levels of organization, discipline and rigor in the relationship with civil society, traditional authorities and the population in general.

He said that, among the priorities, are the fulfillment of the programs outlined by the Army’s Higher Command this year of operational, combative and educational-patriotic preparation, as it is a rich region with great economic potential, from water, mineral and infrastructure, such as the Lobito refinery and the Benguela Railway.

Of these, he added, there are others that require a redoubling of efforts in tactical-operational improvement, so that, in cooperation with the bodies of the Ministry of the Interior, Security and others that make up the National Defense system, the assurance of economic and strategic objectives.

He said that the Central Military Region will also work to combat organized crime, with a view to guaranteeing the normal circulation of people and goods, so that provincial governments can implement structural projects, focused on the well-being and development of the population.

In addition to this, continued the general officer, the RMC will continue to enhance its role in supporting the efforts of provincial governments in the reconstruction of social infrastructures and participation in the vaccination campaign, eradication of illiteracy and other community tasks..

“One of the fundamental issues is to work so that the Central Military Region continues to occupy a privileged place in the other six military zones of the country, where those who work must be recognized and those who do not work must follow the example of those who work”, he concluded.

The act of presentation of Lieutenant General Wala to the RMC troops was guided by the Army Commander, General João Serafim Kitekulo, before general officers and heads of Weapons and Services departments.

Simão Carlitos Wala replaces Lieutenant General Paulo Silva Xavier “Passix”, who has led the RMC troops since February 2023.
