Africa-Press – Angola. The Standing Committee of Senior Officials of SADC proceeded, this Wednesday, in Luanda, to approve the motto of the 43rd Summit of Heads of State and Government of the regional organisation, to take place on the 17th of this month, in the country.
According to the spokesperson for the Summit, Jorge Cardoso, the motto “Human and Financial Capital: Main factors for the sustainable industrialization of SADC” has an underlying strategy and an action plan, worked together with the Secretariat, and the commitment of Angola , as president of the organization, is to fully implement it.
On the occasion, an assessment was also made of the implementation of the motto of the previous summit (42nd), by the presidency of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which allowed the committee to assess the activities carried out in the region during the period in force, from according to the spokesperson.
During the first session of the day of the preparatory committee on matters to be taken to the Council of Ministers meeting, on the 13th and 14th, aspects related to cooperation with international partners were also touched upon, with emphasis on the European Union (EU), Germany and the United States of America (USA).
In this sense, Jorge Cardoso stressed that a cooperation agreement with the United States is in perspective, whose meeting between the parties (SADC and USA) will take place shortly, within the scope of the presidency of Angola, in addition to the already existing cooperation agreement with the EU regarding to the period 2021/2027, within the framework of the European Development Fund (EDF).
The meeting of senior officials takes place, behind closed doors, and should analyze, matters related to the legal instruments of cooperation in the region, the evaluation on the implementation of the SADC restructuring process, as well as the swearing in of the new deputy executive secretary for institutional matters.
For Thursday, the program reserves the meeting of the SADC Finance Committee.
