Saurimo/Lucapa road traffic resumed

Africa-Press – Angola. Road traffic on Estrada Nacional (EN) 180, in the Saurimo/Lucapa section, which had been restricted for more than five years, was reestablished this Saturday (11), with the completion and inauguration of the bridge over the Muangueji river.

The completion of this bridge, 138 meters long and 11 meters wide, will improve the mobility of motorists and pedestrians, as well as quick connections with the neighboring province of Lunda Norte, via the EN 180.

The inauguration of the respective infrastructure was carried out by the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, marking the central event of the celebrations of the 48th anniversary of National Independence, which takes place today.

On the occasion, the governor of Lunda Sul, Daniel Neto, highlighted that the completion of the bridge represents the resolution of yet another problem that constituted one of the major obstacles for motorists on this section, especially in rainy weather.

“Today a new mobility of people and goods begins, which will naturally provide more growth between the two provinces (Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte), as well as interconnect with the EN 230, which is also under construction”, he stated.

The project was budgeted at nine million and 348 thousand US dollars.

Along with the bridge over the Muangueji River, today was also marked by the inauguration of the Provincial Road and Traffic Command, which, from now on, will allow the issuing of driving licenses, booklets and vehicle ownership titles, at the level of the province of Lunda South, with an investment of 362 million and 200 thousand kwanzas.

According to the provincial governor, this command constitutes an added value for the province, allowing it to relieve citizens who had to seek services in other parts of the country.

Just today, the new building of the Provincial Education Office and the Provincial Directorate of Records and Administrative Modernization was also inaugurated, which cost the State coffers 212 million 460 thousand and 665 kwanzas, and Kz 155 million 367 thousand, respectively.

Regarding 48 years of National Independence, Daniel Neto said that the province of Lunda Sul took significant steps, with the creation of better living conditions for citizens and the entry into operation of several socioeconomic infrastructures.

The commemorative act of “Dipanda” Day, in Lunda Sul, was witnessed by the ministers of Territorial Administration, National Defense, Culture and Tourism, Youth and Sports, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, as well as Higher Education, Sciences , Technology and inovation.

Among other individuals, there were also the Secretary of State for the Interior, representatives of political parties with parliamentary seats, ecclesiastical and traditional authorities, as well as national security and defense personnel.
