Africa-Press – Angola. Secil Maritima plans, as of Friday, December 29th of this year, to increase catamaran trips, from nine to 12 frequencies a day, from the Secil Marítima Embarcadouro to Mussulo Island (vice versa), municipality of Talatona.
The increase in frequencies is due to the flow of national and foreign tourists who flock to the Mussulo peninsula for the New Year’s Eve party.
The person in charge of the Embarcadouro terminal, Sandra dos Santos, also said that Secil has made available, since last week, taking into account the Christmas and New Year festivities, a catamaran with 350 seats, called Tômbwa, which takes 10 minutes (one way).
On a trip, from 7am to 5pm, the ticket costs Kz 1,500 (Kz), while from 5pm to 9pm, the ticket costs Kz 2,500.
The company has other small boats with up to 40 seats, which go to other destinations on the island, where the catamaran does not dock.
According to data from the Captaincy of the Port of Luanda and the multisectoral commission for ensuring the festive season on the seafront, at least 10,000 tourists are expected to visit Mussulo for the transition of the year.
In Mussulo, tourists usually stay in tents, resorts, family homes or clubs.
Ilha do Mussulo is located in the south of the province of Luanda, being a sandbank surrounded by a series of small islands. On the continental side, with calm waters suitable for water sports, there are tourist complexes and an enormous amount of coconut trees.
On the oceanic side, with the sea of clean waters, more agitated, there are beaches of white sand and almost desert, inhabited only by native fishermen.
