Secretary of State demands ratification of the CASI for the mobility of the disabled

Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Social Action, Lúcio do Amaral, demanded Friday, in the city of Menongue, from the contractor “HCY”, the correction of accesses to the Integrated Social Action Center (CASI), to facilitate mobility of people with disabilities.

Infrastructure is being built in the Forte Menongue neighborhood. The works are in a physical execution of around 70 percent, lacking the placement of doors, windows and other basic finishes, budgeted at more than 90 million kwanzas.

The contract, which is being carried out by the contractor HCY, in an area of 600 square meters, since September 15, 2022, with its expected completion in the first quarter of 2023.

Lúcio do Amaral expressed this concern at the end of his three-day visit to Cuando Cubango, having announced the trip to this province of a specialized technical commission of the ministry, to redefine the standards of infrastructure, whose mission is to accommodate vulnerable people, elderly and people with disabilities.

“There is a need to correct the work in the first place and, secondly, the minister has already been informed about these errors.

“The infrastructure does not include wheelchair access or bathrooms for them. In the backyard, a water reservoir was built for passing vehicles, cases that deserve ratification”, he explained.

The ministry plans to cover the country’s 164 municipalities, with undertakings of this kind.

The CASI are public social equipment available to receive cases of disadvantaged people in the municipalities, carry out studies, carry out and promote diagnoses on vulnerability, with the direct intervention of specialized technicians in terms of service and social action.
