Secretary of State highlights the role of the accreditation system in trade

Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Trade, Amadeu Leitão Numes, highlighted yesterday, in Huambo, the role played by the national accreditation system in supporting global trade and in removing technical barriers, through confidence.

The official was speaking at the workshop on Quality Infrastructures, held under the motto “Quality Infrastructures, promoting compliance and confidence in national promotion”, in reference to World Accreditation Day, marked on the 9th of this month.

On the occasion, he stated that accreditation constitutes one of the pillars of quality infrastructures, as its main activity is the recognition of the technical competences of conformity assessment bodies.

He added that the accreditation activity is linked to trade based on trust, as it is an essential component of commercial relations inside and outside national borders.

According to Amadeu Leitão Nunes, most economies around the world opt, for some time, for infrastructures that incorporate matters such as standardization, legal and industrial metrology, technical regulations, accreditation and conformity assessment, integrated into quality operating systems.

He underlined that this integrated system ends up generating the necessary stability to support trade and ensure that consumers, companies and regulators who purchase goods and services receive what they expect.

In turn, the deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Huambo province, Angelino Elavoco, said that the accreditation system plays a key role in promoting business policies that are rooted in the culture of quality and excellence in provision of services by economic operators.

The official appealed to companies to adhere to the rules established by the regulatory bodies that make up the national accreditation system.

At the event, an initiative of the Ministry of Commerce, members of the Government of Huambo, municipal administrators, businessmen, academics and civil society debated, among others, matters related to the “National Quality Policy”, “Challenges and opportunities for export”, “Contexts, challenges and perspectives of local production” and “Experience of quality management in the water and sanitation company”.
