Africa-Press – Angola. A handmade craft carrying 5,250 liters of fuel for smuggling in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was seized Monday by the Border Guard Police in the municipality of Soyo, province of Zaire.

Packed in containers of 25 to 250 litres, the product was seized in the river channels of Mpulu Mpulu and Santo António, following an operational work carried out by the staff of the naval squadron of Mbubu, posted at the barrier post of Ponta do Padrão and Curva Curva .

The information was provided to the press this Tuesday by the spokesman for the Provincial Delegation of the Interior, Sérgio Afonso, explaining that the goods seized are valued at 1 million, 253 thousand and 250 kwanzas.

He added that the fuel owners fled when they noticed the police patrol.

The seized fuel was handed over to the General Tax Administration (AGT), in the municipality of Soyo.

Located in the north of Angola, the province of Zaire shares a 310 kilometer border with the DRC, 120 of which are land and 190 are river borders, across the Zaire River.
