Africa-Press – Angola. The assistant coach of the National Senior Women’s Handball Team, Nelson Catito, said this Wednesday that Senegal proved to be an obstacle, in the challenge in which Angola beat Senegal, 22-21, in the debut of the Pre -Olympic

In a press conference, Wednesday, after the match played at Kilamba’s Multiúsos pavilion, in Luanda, he highlighted that the Senegalese women fought well, with the aim of opposing the game model of the Pérolas (name of the National Team) .

In turn, the captain, Isabel Guialo, acknowledged the nervousness, justifying that the responsibility was due to the fact that they were playing at home.

He reported that this situation caused deconcentration, but that the group managed to correct it, without compromising the final result.

Senegal’s captain, Ndiaye Hawa, pointed out the countless two minutes (suspension) of the squad’s influential players, in decisive moments, a fact that benefited Angola.

He highlighted that the lack of rigor in some moves was another factor that prevented the group from extending its advantage during periods of dominance by the Senegalese.

For his part, Senegal’s coach, Messaoudi Yacine, indicated that based on his team’s performance it was possible to win Wednesday, adding that the negative result leaves sadness within the team.

The Pre-Olympic tournament qualifies the champion for the 2024 Olympic Games, in Paris (France).

The competition continues on Thursday, with Angola facing Congo and Senegal against Cameroon.
