Africa-Press – Angola. The coach of Petro de Luanda’s senior men’s team, José Neto, said that Serbian basketball has tactical resources, which has allowed the evolution of the team in the training camp in that European country.
Speaking Tuesday at a press conference, via ZOOM, he said that the team is gradually growing, after having spent more than a week without training, after a sequence of six games in the National Championship.
“Serb basketball is one of the first in the world with high quality teams and many tactical resources.” he said, on the same day that the “tricolor” delegation was received by the Angolan Ambassador to Serbia, Alcino Izata da Conceição.
José Neto addressed the preparation of the collective in a press conference via ZOOM, where he reiterated the gradual growth of the collective, taking into account the African Basketball League (BAL-acronym in English), which starts next March.
About the reinforcements, the coach of the national champions informed that there is still a vacancy for a foreign athlete, without advancing the nationality and the position to be filled.
For this continental competition, the American Damian Hollis and the Ivorian Souleyman Diabate are signed.
On the same day (Tuesday), Petro de Luanda defeated Dunav from the Serbian League, by 96-48, in the first of three ten-day preparation games scheduled by the technical team in the city of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.
This is the second stage that the formation of the “road axis” carries out abroad, after South Africa, at the beginning of the season.
For Belgrade, José Neto has the following players: Souleymane Diabaté, Childe Dundão and Gerson Domingos (bases), Carlos Morais, Gerson Gonçalves “Lukeny”, Pedro Bastos, José António “ZT”, Glofate Buiamba (wingers), Damian Hollis and Valdir Manuel (posts), Jone Pedro, Aboubakar Gakou, Aldemiro João “Vander” and Teotónio Dó (posts).

The four best teams from each conference advance to the last stage and play, in a “playoff” system, from 21 to 27 May, at Kigali Arena, Rwanda. From the group of eight, four semifinalists and two finalists will emerge.
In the first edition of BAL, in 2021, Petro de Luanda occupied the third position and in 2022 it was second, losing in the final against Zamalek from Egypt.
