Africa-Press – Angola. The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Zaire detained, on Friday, another employee of the District Court of Mbanza Kongo, for allegedly illegally releasing prisoners and falsifying public documents.
This is the second arrest of an official at the Mbanza Kongo District Court in less than two weeks. The first, also for the same crime, took place on the seventh of the current month.
The information was provided, Monday, to the press, by the deputy provincial director of SIC, chief superintendent Serafim Coelho João.
According to the source, the detention was possible thanks to a complaint from the Nkiende Prison Service, reporting the release of an inmate who since last July was serving a five-year sentence in that penitentiary unit.
“After the steps were taken, it was concluded that the Court technician, who performs the function of a diligence officer and who currently plays the role of legal clerk, forged the release warrant on behalf of the citizen Maria Lindeza”, underlined the deputy director of the SIC.
He specified that the measure of personal coercion or preventive detention was applied to the accused, with the Public Prosecutor’s Office processing the prison legalization.
He added that steps were being taken to determine the existence of other similar processes in that judicial body.
A source from the Mbanza Kongo District Court said that there is an alleged network of officials involved in this type of scheme to exchange monetary values.
The Nkiende prison unit is 30 kilometers from the city of Mbanza Kongo.
