Africa-Press – Angola. The works “Perdidos”, by Simão Sebastião, and “Sagrada Esperança”, by Virgílio Pinheiro, are the main winners of the 16th edition of EnsaArte, distinguished with the Grand Prix, the highest award of the competition, in the subjects of Painting and Sculpture, respectively. .

The winners were announced last Friday at a gala, in which 11 other visual artists were awarded and the Ceramics discipline was the great novelty of this year’s edition.

For their victory, the artists Simão Sebastião and Virgílio Pinheiro each received, as prizes, a check in the amount of six million kwanzas and a trophy.

The second place in the painting category was awarded to the artist Joselina Kingalu, with the work “Ritual Union”, while Jermano Silva, with “O emigrante”, was the second classified in the sculpture. Both received checks worth three million kwanzas and a trophy.

After the award was given, and for the victory, the artist Joselina Kingalu said that she will use the money to get married.

The winner of the novelty of this edition, ceramics, was the artist Maria António Simão, with the work “The silence”, which in addition to the trophy received the amount of one million and 500 thousand kwanzas.

The first honorable mention was given to Valeriano Kapuco, for the work “The human timer”, while the second was given to Paulo Kudissuca, for “Ambicionei até a menopause”, and the third to Adriano Luís Gaspar, for “Mwana Pô”. three were awarded trophies and work kits.

The Youth and Sculpture Prize was awarded to the artist Luís Mário Caumba, for the work “Borboleta da vida”. The Youth and Painting modality won this year Denise Luís, with “Nossa Luta”. The two received one million kwanzas as a prize.

The Alliance Française de Luanda prize was awarded to the artist Miguel Beleza, for the photograph “A Migração e as Culturas”.

On the occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ensa, Carlos Duarte, considered the award an artistic reflection of the Angolan identity, translated into the various artistic disciplines, including painting and sculpture.

The 16th edition of the awards, which takes place every two years, is part of the festivities of the insurance company’s anniversary.
