Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan ambassador Carlos Sardinha said, this Wednesday, in Luanda, that small and medium-sized companies are capable of immediately generating new jobs and income, helping to collect taxes, given their flexibility and proximity to the customer .

Speaking at the opening of the II Dialogue on Small Business and Entrepreneurship within the scope of the CPLP, the diplomat said that these companies are fundamental actors in promoting the sustainable development of economies.

According to the diplomat, this is due to its ability to add value to society through solutions that respond to the needs of market problems that are not important drivers for the creation of jobs.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, the ambassador asked the countries of the community to create conditions for the formalization of small and medium-sized companies inserted in the informal economy.

According to Carlos Sardinha, this is the only way to improve the impact of income, promote the increase in employment and improve its quality, reduce poverty and give greater economic empowerment to women.

“However, we must take advantage of business partnerships so that they can plant good seeds in our countries so that we can have a common and prosperous future”, advised the diplomat.

In turn, the Secretary of State for Economy, Ivan Marques dos Santos, stated that holding this second forum does not only represent the fulfillment of an assumed calendar, but above all an important milestone in the joint journey.

“The idea is to seek to strengthen economic cooperation at the level of our Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP)”, emphasized the government official.

He added that this forum brings together representatives of public bodies and experts, dedicated to discussing and promoting small businesses and entrepreneurship, in recognition of their vital role for the economies of CPLP member countries.

“Angola proudly hosts the second edition of this important consultation meeting, created by institutions supporting high-level companies from Member States of our Community, as the first edition was held in November 2022 in Lisbon – Portugal”, he expressed.

For Ivan Marques dos Santos, the first edition was very important, having served to obtain valuable experiences and share various commitments, taking into account the importance of this international event.

The Secretary of State for Economy informed that this II Dialogue allows the establishment of strategic partnerships, such as the one that Angola has with the Brazilian cooperation agency ADC and the Brazilian support service for micro and small companies.

The “1st Dialogue meeting on Small Business and Entrepreneurship within the scope of the CPLP” took place on November 4, 2022, in Portugal, with the same objective of defining the strategic agenda for the consolidation of economic cooperation 2022-2027, of the member countries.

The CPLP is made up of Angola, Brazil, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, Cape Verde Guinea Bissau, East Timor Mozambique.
