SME urges foreigners to be legal in the country

Africa-Press – Angola. The Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in Cuando Cubango urged, in the city of Menongue, the foreign community residing in the province to strive for compliance with the regulations of the migration law, under penalty of being criminally responsible and expelled from the country.

This appeal was made by the provincial director of the SME, Commissioner for Migration, Laureano dos Santos, during a meeting he held on Friday with representatives of the resident foreign community, to clarify migration laws.

The meeting also addressed issues on legal and illegal stay in the country, aid to illegal migration, concepts on foreign reception committees, sale of expired products, price reduction of basic basket products and construction materials. civil, crimes of aggression to the environment, vandalism of public goods, among others.

Laureano dos Santos, who was speaking on behalf of the delegate from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) in Cuando Cubango, explained that the entry and stay of any foreigner in Angola and, in particular, in the province must obey and respect the legal procedures in force in the country, not to get involved in migratory crimes that result in arrest, fine and expulsion.

He underlined that for this reason there is every need for foreign communities to be closer to police bodies in order to satisfy their interests, in order to avoid violations that interfere with the laws of the Penal Code or the Constitution of the Republic.

Laureano dos Santos referred that an issue of concern to the SME is the situation of foreign reception committees which, for some time now, in Angola have facilitated illegal migration, bearing in mind that due to the lack of this service some citizens enter with documents false and have deserved the help of some people in the country.

He said that, in relation to the administrative issues raised by some foreigners with difficulty in document processing, the problems will be overcome soon, with the beginning of the new registration process.
