Africa-Press – Angola. The chiefs of Cuando Cubango requested Monday, in Menongue, the Minister of Territory Administration (MAT), Dionísio da Fonseca, more support for education and health staff, to avoid abandonment of work in the municipalities.

The concern was expressed during separate meetings, which the MAT minister held with traditional and ecclesiastical authorities, members of civil society and residents’ commissions, which served to assess the major social and economic problems that afflict the region.

The collective of traditional authorities in Cuando Cuabngo regrets the permanent flight of staff, mainly from the education and health sectors, due to lack of conditions in the municipalities.

Speaking to the press, the spokesman for the traditional authorities of Cuando Cuabngo, the sovereign of Menongue Manuel Dala (Mwene Vunongue VIII), said that the class presented the holder of the MAT with problems such as the lack of roads, energy and water, housing, health centers and posts, secondary schools, universities and other services in the interior of the province.

He also asked for support for family farmers, with agricultural inputs and other materials to combat hunger and poverty within the population, with emphasis on that found in the interior of the province.

In turn, the provincial moderator of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA), Júlio Simão Sicambi, spoke of the need to provide microcredit, lack of bridges, as well as other social infrastructures.

The priest said that the churches are partners with the government in several domains, with the intention of helping to solve some problems that afflict the communities, mainly those that are in vulnerable conditions and in more remote areas.

The executive secretary of the Provincial Youth Council, Miguel Tchissingui, spoke of the need to build a media library, secondary and higher education schools in all municipalities in the province, access to microcredit, lower prices for construction materials and basket products basic.

The construction of several housing projects, completion of the work on the Polo Universitário de Menongue, provincial football stadium, diversification of the courses offered at the Cuito Cuanavale University, bearing in mind that the existing ones are all aimed at teacher training, implementation of more funding programs of investments, were also presented concerns.

In his speech, minister Dionísio da Fonseca informed that the MAT had recently worked on an integrated development plan for all provinces in the country, where Cuando Cubango is contemplated with several structural projects, which from the current year will start the works.

He explained that the referred plans reflect the set of initiatives that the provincial governments identified as a priority for their region.

In this way, they will begin to be included in the OGE this year and in subsequent years, to improve the living conditions of the populations.

The official assured that the executive intends in the new government cycle to periodize the promotion and participation of citizens in local governance, to know the main concerns and what solutions to point to their resolution.
