Africa-Press – Angola. Eighteen (18) special diamond stones of various carats will begin to be auctioned online from the 11th of the current month, in Luanda, the National Diamond Trading Company of Angola (SODIAM) announced on Saturday.
According to a SODIAM statement, the auction will be organized by the company TRANS ATLANTIC GEM SALES and the closing ceremony will take place on the 19th of this month.
The note clarifies that the auction will be aimed at customers registered in the SODIAM database and who have experience in selling special stones.
Of the 18 stones weighing more than 10.80 carats, two are from the Lulo mine, the same number from Uari, one from Chitotolo, Somiluana (1) and 12 from Kaixepa.
In December 2023, SODIAM raised 18.2 million dollars (USD 1 is equivalent to Kz 829,739) with the auction sale of 645.52 carats of rough diamonds.
The eighth auction, held in Luanda, featured special stones from Sociedades Mineiras do Lulo, Somiluana, Chitotolo and Uari.
Founded in 1999, SODIAM is the state-owned company responsible for commercializing Angola’s diamond production.
The production, sold through SODIAM, originates from 17 kimbelitic and alluvial mines, and covers the entire quality spectrum in terms of size, model, purity and color.
