Solar energy reaches 1.5 million people

Africa-Press – Angola. The photovoltaic solar energy production projects inaugurated this Wednesday in the province of Benguela by the Head of State, João Lourenço, will benefit 1.5 million people.

The solar project promises to revolutionize the market and access to energy in Angola and includes the construction of seven photovoltaic solar plants with one million solar panels installed, totaling a capacity of 370 megawatts.

According to data advanced by the Ministry of Energy and Water, the project is the largest integrated intervention program in public renewable energy in Sub-Saharan Africa. It was designed with the aim of generating a positive environmental, social and economic impact in Angola, marking the future of sustainable energy in the country.

It is also an important contribution to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development goal, which aims to ensure access to reliable, modern and sustainable energy at affordable prices.
