Africa-Press – Angola. A 35-year-old Somali citizen was detained on Monday, at the border of Luvo, municipality of Mbanza Kongo, by the Border Guard Police in the province of Zaire, for attempting to illegally enter the national territory.
The aforementioned illegal immigrant is part of a group of 35 citizens from the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), who intended to climb the province of Zaire, and then reach the country’s capital, Luanda.
The spokesperson for the Zaire Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior, Sérgio Afonso, said that the detention of the aforementioned immigrants took place at the Nóqui, Kinguvo, Luvo and Jeany Mary border posts.
He explained that the Somali citizen was referred to the central bodies of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), while 25 of the 34 immigrants from the DRC were repatriated.
The remaining nine are in the custody of local immigration authorities, as they are repeat offenders.
Seizure of 360 liters of fuel for smuggling
On the same day, the Border Guard Police, in the province of Zaire, seized 360 liters of fuel, for alleged smuggling.
The seized product was handed over to the General Tax Administration (AGT), in the commune of Luvo, for legal procedures.
Four municipalities in the province of Zaire, namely Mbanza Kongo, Soyo, Nóqui and Cuimba, share a border with the DRC, covering a length of 310 kilometers.
