Africa-Press – Angola. A Sonangol Development and Research Center (CDP), under construction at kilometer 13, on the outskirts of the city of Sumbe, Cuanza Sul province, will boost the hydrocarbon sector.

According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of CDP, Orlando da Mata, speaking to the press, “this will be a step for Sonangol and the oil sector, taking into account the country’s relaunch in research, development and innovation”.

“Another component has to be specialized and postgraduate training and aims to give another boost in the area of ​​hydrocarbons”, he concluded.

The center will also promote specialized training in the various areas of oil, gas, mining and renewable energies, such as green hydrogen, biofuels, as well as strategic minerals of the future.

Orlando da Mata, who held a meeting with the governor of Cuanza sul, Job Capapinha, referred that the project is important for Angola to accompany the development in the areas of hydrocarbons as a guarantee of the future.

The project will have a great economic and scientific impact, given the benefits and advantages that the center will provide for the challenges that the Angolan oil sector faces, as well as for the employability of young people in the province.

As for the progress of the works, he said that they are taking place at a good pace and with a physical execution of 99 percent.

The center has the areas of administration, geosciences and applications, renewable energies and sustainability, studies and projects, business center, auditorium and multimedia library.

Canteen, clinic, social centre, houses (T2, T3 and T4) and T1 apartments, laundry, security building, laboratories, among others are part of the structure that is being built.

The works, in charge of the construction company Poliobra, are implanted in an area of ​​62 hectares, 33 hectares of which have already been built, with a physical execution in the order of 99 percent of the total.
