South Africans Exploit Investment Opportunities in Huambo

Africa-Press – Angola. South African entrepreneurs have been on Monday, in the province of Huambo, to identify investment opportunities in the sectors of agriculture, industry, tourism, renewable energy, infrastructure and mining.

South African investors in the country as part of the 80-people delegation to the 1st Cape Town-Angola Business Excursion program, which aims to strengthen the economic cooperation between the two countries.

In his welcome speech, Huambo Province Governor Pereira Alfredo assured that local government is committed to creating all institutional and legal conditions to welcome foreign private investment, especially African countries.

‘We are creating a cool umbrella that allows investors to operate safely and results, because Huambo is open to African investment and, with South Africa, we have logistics facilities, including road transportation through Namibia,’ he said.

The Governor highlighted existing tax incentives, the creation of the unique company of companies, political stability and legal certainty as factors that make the province attractive to investors who want to produce locally and export goods through the Benguela and Porto do Lobito.

In turn, Angola’s Consul General in Cape Town, Elsa Caposo Vicente, said it was patriotic and diplomatic duty to create bridges that promote the economic growth of both countries through investment attraction and experience exchange.

It added that this is a diplomatic obligation to facilitate mutual knowledge and the creation of sustainable partnerships that contribute to the common development of Angola and South Africa.

In brief statements, the mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay in Cape Town, Babalwa Lobishi, praised the quality of the reception in Huambo and expressed the desire to formalize cooperation agreements with this Angolan province.

‘We intend to establish partnerships that can be replicated in other regions of the continent. What we do in South Africa can also be done in Angola, with real impact on communities,’ he said.

With the end of the mission scheduled for August 3, the South African entrepreneurs will participate in technical visits to agricultural production units, industrial and infrastructure projects, with the aim of strengthening economic cooperation and boosting partnerships in the sectors of infrastructure, agriculture, technical-professional training, mines and industry.

The 1st Cape Town-Angola Business Excursion is a milestone in business relations between Angola and South Africa, aligning with Angolan government efforts to streamline economic diplomacy and attract investment to provinces with the highest productive potential.
