Africa-Press – Angola. The energy capacity installed in the city of Soyo, province of Zaire, increases from 32 to 48 MW, in the next 10 days, with the completion of work on the installation of a 20 MVA (16 MW) transformer, by the National Energy Distribution Company. Electricity (ENDE).

The aforementioned transformer is being installed at the 60/15 Kva Soyo 2 substation, which has a capacity of 40 MVA (32 MW), which is now being increased to 60 MVA (48 MW).

With this undertaking, ENDE is anticipating the increase in demand in the near future, as a result of the expansion of the industrial park and the city of Soyo, which will require greater consumption of electrical energy.

According to the provincial director of ENDE in Zaire, NDongo João, who spoke this Monday, the company is taking precautions with upcoming investments for the district, stressing that current consumption has reached the limit of installed capacity.

“With the current power of 32 MW (40 MVA), it would be impossible for the company to meet new customer requests, hence the need to increase power to 48 MW, equivalent to 60 MVA, at the Soyo 2 substation”, he reinforced.

He informed that, while the work is ongoing, ENDE will continue to supply energy in the city of Soyo with some restrictions, alternating blackouts by area, and therefore asked for the understanding of residents for the inconvenience.

ENDE controls around 21 thousand customers in the city of Soyo, which currently has an estimated population of more than 200 thousand inhabitants.
