Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Mass Media, Nuno Caldas Albino, on Wednesday in Luanda highlighted the series of events marking the 50th anniversary of National Independence to be marked on November 11.
He was speaking at the end of the press conference presenting the program for the national ecumenical thanksgiving service, commemorating the 50th anniversary of National Independence, to be held on Saturday in Luanda, an initiative of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola in partnership with the Episcopal Conference of Angola and São Tomé (CEAST), the Evangelical Alliance of Angola (AEA) and the Angolan Christian Forum (FCA).
Nuno Caldas Albino the secretary of State said that the commemorative calendar includes moments of great historical and symbolic significance, such as the mentioned thanksgiving service, which is expected to bring together more than 50,000 believers from five major religious platforms.
He said the event will be covered by approximately 150 journalists and more than ten digital platforms, ensuring broad visibility for the celebrations.
“The Interministerial Commission for the Preparation of the 50th Anniversary of Independence Commemorations is guaranteeing all logistical and institutional conditions, especially police, medical and pharmaceutical security, as well as the organization of mobility in the areas closest to the event venues”, he emphasized.
The governmental office also highlighted the holding of the cultural show named “50 Years of Experience,” schedule to take place on Luanda Boulevard, the fireworks display at midnight on November 11th, the raising of the national flag, the laying of flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and specially the “Main Ceremony of the Commemorations”, which will be the high point of the festivities, to be presided over by the President João Lourenço.
He added that the program includes the participation of national and international guests, friends of Angola who closely follow the historical trajectory and progress of the country over the last five decades.
The celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence are seen as a moment of unity, reflection, and collective celebration of the country’s history.
