Africa-Press – Angola. The III Summit on Financing Infrastructure in Africa kicked off officially on Tuesday (28) in the Bay of Luanda, under the chairmanship of Angolan President and African Union Chairperson, João Lourenço.

The event, which brings together Heads of State and Government, leaders of regional organizations, and representatives of international financial institutions, aims to strengthen continental cooperation in the area of infrastructure and mobilize financing for structural projects that boost integration and intra-African trade.

After a family photo and a welcome session, the opening ceremony included the playing of the national anthems of Angola and the African Union, as well as the screening of an institutional video and a cultural performance by the group Lóhoo.

The opening address is delivered by the Angola Head of Sstate, who will highlight the importance of coordinated mobilization of African political and to finance and modernize infrastructure and strengthen intra-African trade.

The session will also feature interventions by distinguished figures, including Azali Assoumani, President of the Comoros; Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, Head of the Togo Council; Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, President of the African Union Commission; Azouz Nasri, President of the Council of the Nation of Algeria, representing the Algerian President; Nestor Ntahontuye, Prime Minister of Burundi; and Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy-Prime Minister of Egypt, representing the Egyptian President.

Work continues throughout the day, with a highlight on the high-level dialogue “For an Integrated, Connected and Prosperous Africa,” focusing on mobilizing resources for the development of regional corridors and free trade zones.

In the afternoon, the plenary session resumes with a debate on “Designing Africa’s Future,” which is expected to address issues related to African civil aviation financing (SAATM-Single African Air Transport Market), electricity interconnection, green investment, and cross-border partnerships aimed at promoting a more integrated and sustainable Africa.

The III Summit on Financinf Infrastructure Development in Africa gathers over 2 thousand guests and goes until the 31st of the current month.
