Supreme Court Verdict Reading in Kopelipa Case

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Supreme Court has scheduled the reading of the verdict in the “Kopelipa” case for Monday, which envolves Generals Manuel Hélder Vieira Dias Júnior “Kopelipa” and Leopoldino Fragoso do Nascimento “Dino”.

Also, defendants are lawyer Fernando Gomes dos Santos, Chinese citizen Yiu Haiming, and the companies China International Fund (CIF), Plansmart International Limited, and Utter Right International Limited.

The trial, which began on March 10, involved the testimony of 38 witnesses in a highly complex case of strong public interest.

The defendants are accused by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of crimes of embezzlement, fraud, forgery, criminal association, abuse of authority, money laundering, and influence peddling.

It should be recalled that during the closing arguments, the Public Prosecutor’s Office withdrew the charges against General Kopelipa for most of the crimes, maintaining only the charge of influence peddling, as it could no longer substantiate the accusations.
