Africa-Press – Angola. The state-owned Angola Air Transport company TAAG on Friday at the Dr. AntoĢnio Agostinho Neto (AIAAN) International Airport, in the province of Icolo and Bengo, received its fifth aircraft, model Airbus A220-300, with the registration D2-TAK.
The information which is part of a press release, informs that in this way TAAG follows the process of modernization and renewal of its fleet, aligned with the Company’s Strategic Plan 2024-2029.
With a total capacity for 137 passengers, the aircraft has 12 seats in executive class and 125 in economy class, offering a high level of comfort and convenience in passenger travel experience.
According to the report, this aircraft is also characterised by its efficiency, with lower fuel consumption compared to previous generations, and a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, in line with international best practices in aviation sustainability.
“These aircraft have supported and consistently strengthened intra-Africa connectivity, connecting Angola to multiple cities and regions of the continent such as southern, eastern and western Africa, served by the TAAG destinations network”, reads the note.
It was symbolically named “Mbanza Congo”, a tribute to a historic city in Angola and Africa, recognized by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a World Heritage Site.
The former capital of the Kingdom of Congo, Mbanza Congo, thus receives a special tribute and appears in the fuselage of the A220-300 D2-TAK of TAAG, a way to enhance the richness of Angola’s cultural identity and historical memory.
However, the acquisition of this aircraft reaffirms TAAG’s commitment to investing continuously in modernising its fleet, enhancing Angolan culture and consolidating its position as a reference carrier in Africa, as well as in the world.
