Africa-Press – Angola. The “Kandenge Gabriely Antunes” library at the Luanda Institute of Medicine (IME) was newly opened this Thursday for the academic community and the general public and contains about 600 different books.

The BAI Foundation was fully re-qualified within the framework of its social obligations, and the library remained inactive for some time.

It contains a range of literary, children’s and academic works, including philosophy, psychology, religion, social sciences, mathematics, medicine, sports, art, history, geography, entertainment and literature.

Therefore, IMEI Director Clemente Fernandes noted that after the restoration the building will become an inviting environment for students to study and research.

He said that in order to increase the number of books, the institution has launched a campaign for teachers and students with the aim of encouraging them to donate books.

In his remarks, BAI Fund project director Zhozet de Souza stressed that the purpose of the requalification is to strengthen and shape teaching privileges in order to ensure that employees have shared cultural knowledge.

In order to meet the universal standards of use, the fund trained four libraries designated by the highest educational institutions.

He also emphasized that he was the first medium-sized educational institution to receive a “Kandenge library” of his social projects.

By 2024, the fund will begin building libraries in some Luanda schools and will expand the project to other provinces.

The BAI Foundation offers social services in four areas: education, sports, health and culture.
