Africa-Press – Angola. At least three people died and 14 were injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a truck on Monday at 10 p.m. on National Road EN-105 in Lubango city, central Huila province, the National Police said on Tuesday.
The accident involved a bus traveling from Huila to Huambo province with 49 passengers that collided with a Scania truck loaded with goods, the truck’s driver a Namibia national died at the scene along with two Angolans.
All injured are receiving medical assistance at Lubango Central Hospital, with five in critical condition.
According to National Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Renata Matos, preliminary investigations indicate that the truck, which departed from Namibia, caused the accident by driving on the wrong side of the road.
Matos said the truck driver may not have been familiar with Angolan traffic rules, considering that in Namibia, they drive on the left side of the road, whereas in Angola, it is the opposite.
