Africa-Press – Angola. The multinational TotalEnergies was the big winner of the “Angola Oil & Gas Awards 2022”, having won two categories, namely “Operator of the year” and “Fuel distribution company of the year”, in an event organized by the company PetroAngola.

The award ceremony for companies in the oil sector took place on Saturday, in Luanda, and is a benchmark for the national oil sector.

It aims to distinguish the best “players” and individualities of the oil and gas industry, with the aim of promoting local content and exalting the best achievements of the sector throughout each year.

The CEO of PetroAngola, Patrício Quingongo, said that the choice of winners, in this year’s edition which had around 100 companies, competitors in eight categories, with emphasis on activity in the Angolan oil and gas industry, from operating companies, companies providing goods, services and professionals in the sector “it was not difficult, since the company analyzes and monitors the development of the sector throughout the year”.

“Companies were evaluated based on economic performance, but also technical and operational. We compiled this data throughout the year and on the day of the gala we presented the companies that presented the best indicators”, he informed.

To determine the winners, PetroAngola used six sources of information as a basis, namely the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANGP), Regulatory Institute for Petroleum Derivatives (IRDP), operating companies, companies providing goods and services, PetroAngola database and public voting.

In a universe of almost 500 companies that work in the sector, he said, for this year, 100 companies were eligible that competed in a total of eight categories, namely “Executive of the Year”, “Operating Company of the Year”, “Operating Company of the Year “, “Oil & Gas Bank of the Year”, “Local Content Company of the Year”, “Corporate Social Responsibility of the Year”, “Fuel Distribution Company of the Year” and “Career Award”.

In addition to TotalEnergies, the event distinguished Eni in the category “Explorer of the Year”; Cabship (Local Content of the Year), Pluspetrol (Corporate Social Responsibility of the Year) and Banco de Fomento Angola (Oil & Gas Bank of the Year). Specialist Lago de Carvalho was the winner in the “Career Award” category, while Edson dos Santos was awarded the prize for “Executive of the Year”.

For next year, the organizing company will bring as a novelty the expansion to up to 15, the number of categories, focusing more on the “individual side which is trying to find the best engineers and the best technicians in the industry, and not just focusing on at executive level”.
