Africa-Press – Angola. Children from the city of Luena, Moxico province, are dazzled by the Under 14 and 16 basketball tournament, during the school holidays, promoted by the local association of the sport.
Running from last Saturday until July 16, the competition, in both sexes, called “Kids Holliday Games”, is part of the association’s 2020/24 quadrennial program aimed at the massification, revitalization and dynamization of basketball in the region.
FC Bravos do Maquis (A and B), Roliv Basquetebol and Fundación Real Madrid (A and B) are participating in the tournament, involving a total of 86 children, competing in a one-on-one system.
The competition coordinator of the association’s training levels, Elias Faria, told that the tournament aims to prepare the clubs and the massification projects that will compete in the National of these categories, scheduled for the province of Benguela, from of the 22nd of July.
Elias Faria also advanced that, in addition to Nacional, the participation of local clubs in regional competitions, which will take place in September in the city of Luena, is also scheduled. “We are preparing the clubs, from an organizational point of view, for the next championships, with the aim of increasingly improving quality in terms of competitiveness.
“We are also preparing clubs and nuclei for the “Kandengola” tournament, which the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB) is promoting in all provinces,” said Elias Faria.
