Africa-Press – Angola. The National Assembly (AN) expects, for this year, the opening of the TV and Radio Parliament broadcast, informed, this Thursday, the secretary general of the organ, Pedro Agostinho de Neri, at the end of the meeting of the parliamentary leaders which dealt with the agenda of the next Plenary that will take place on the 23rd.

Pedro Agostinho de Neri advanced that the information was released by the President of the General Assembly during the meeting that took place this morning with the leaders of the political parties represented in the House of Laws.

The secretary general of the AN told that the technical and material conditions have been met for the start of broadcasting by the two media, which will have as their primary mission the dissemination of the actions of the AN and its organs.

Pedro Agostinho de Neri mentioned that, in addition to the technical and material aspect, they are also working on the legal aspect, to be submitted for approval, defining the editorial line that respects the heterogeneity of the parliamentary family and the specificity of the contents.

For this purpose, he stressed, there are contacts with the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS) with the aim of collecting technical contributions.

With regard to human resources, Pedro Agostinho de Neri added that they will resort to the internal market and training, to endow the two bodies with human capabilities with competences for the defined challenges, having as reference the experiences of Parliaments in other countries, where these communication channels are in place.

According to the official, the vocation of the media will be to divulge the activities carried out by the parliament and its bodies, as well as the action of the deputies in the communities, especially the activities of the working committees, the parliamentary groups and other groups in charge of the action parliamentary.

“The intention is to bring parliamentary work closer to citizens, in order to better understand the role and action of parliament and its proximity to the population”, reinforced the secretary general of the AN.

Pedro Agostinho de Neri added that this is an imperative in the current context, marked by the existence of radio and television channels in the parliaments of several countries, a dynamic to which the Angolan Parliament wants to be associated.
